The Delafield, WI Real Estate Market

Delafield real estate is in the heart of the "Lake County" area of southeast Wisconsin. The region derives its distinctive character from the glacial forces the laid the groundwork for its gorgeous rolling hills and sparkling lakes. It is surely what drew the Native Americans and later the European settlers to the area.

Delafield’s most famous settler, Nelson Hawks, moved here from New York with his family in 1846 and built a three-story inn as a stagecoach stop. It still stands today in Historic Downtown Delafield as an education museum and is recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. Hawks named the settlement after his friend and fellow pioneer, Charles Delafield. The enduring style of the original settlement continued into present day with the vision of a developer that built over 200 homes, retail and commercial buildings in the Colonial Williamsburg style. Downtown Delafield maintains a cohesive, quaint image that attracts visitors all year long.

About the Delafield Community

The downtown district has unique specialty shops including clothing boutiques, stationary, home décor, and jewelry. Dining experiences range from trendy coffee shop, vintage diner style, Mexican cantina, Williamsburg style pub, contemporary Italian, New American Cuisine, New Orleans Cajun, to classic steak house with everything in between. The Delafield Hotel is the primary lodging in the downtown district. It is an elegant boutique hotel with 38 suites and the only "Preferred Boutique" property in the Midwest.

The surrounding Delafield city and township area has becoming a major shopping hub in the "Lake County" area. Here you will find big box stores like Target, Kohl’s, Office Max, Best Buy & Home Depot. For recreation and entertainment there is Naga-Waukee Park that features a challenging public golf course, lakefront picnic & swimming area, and the Olympic sized indoor skating ice skating rink. Catch a movie at the Marcus Theatre or try out some high flying fun at the skateboard park. Lodging includes the Holiday Inn Express and La Quinta Suites. Dining varies from fast food chains and national chain restaurants to brew houses and lakeside fine dining. Delafield certainly has it all.
